There’s a lot of really dumb criticism of jazz out in the world, but it’s usually from people who lack anything resembling a soul. Jazz allows you to really appreciate every instrument in the band, it’s like a play where each instrument is a character with it’s own motivations and… okay, i’m waxing philosophical, but you get the idea.

It’s good to have pop-music, don’t get me wrong, but for those of you out there who listen avidly, who collect records or cds or whatever it is that you do with your songs, you want something with some substance and this is it for me. Obviously there’s more to it than that, but I’m not getting into it today.
