What I’ve been listening to lately.
Lots of Progressive rock. Lots and Lots of Progressive rock. Though that term can be misleading. Especially if you get into the contemporary material. But then again, I don’t usually get into contemporary Progressive rock (often taking up the moniker “prog-rock,” I don’t know why they felt the need to shorten it) unless I’m listening to Aural Moon or some other such Shoutcast station. As far as internet radio stations go though, I mostly listen to Stellar Attraction because they play the most old stuff out of all of them.
Yes, I like old hipster doofus progressive rock bands like Jethro Tull, Yes (the band, not the affirmative term),Rush, Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson (don’t get me started), and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention (please don’t get me started on Frank Zappa, I could go on forever).
Anyway, here’s a short list of what I’ve been listening to recently.
Yes-“Everyday’s” (Currently listening to it as we speak…er, type)
Gong- I actually don’t have any titles of good Gong songs. The thing about Gong is they’re either really awesome jam type stuff, or creepy experimental sound-art.
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Live-“Nutrocker”
Not as dirty as it sounds, I swear. Actually a perfect rock-out rendition of a holiday tune.
And the list goes on and on, I could recommend a thousand songs for you to listen to right now, but I’ll just get you started for today.
