Upon thinking about drawing comics, and those things affiliated with them, namely animation (consider the last post), I’ve come to the realization that Gravity and Force are something that I haven’t paid too much attention to just yet. A rookie thing to do, but perfectly understandable given my rookie standing. Afterall, there are many miles to go before I can say with puffed chest that I am a “Professional,” Or perhaps a better way to phrase it, “that I FEEL like a professional.” The title seems deserving only to those in that state of mind. Money has nothing to do with it, trust me.
Getting back to point, Gravity and Force are things we see each and every day. You just have to pay attention for it. Notice how the branches HANG off the tress (and I do mean HANG) almost as if they were going to fall off. Or how cloth plummets to the ground only to be stopped by whatever carries it, all the more precarious the less it’s held. What about the way an athlete adjusts themselves before making a great leap or a speedy dash. Before any great moment of action there is an equal moment of pause and tensity. These are concepts that I’m grasping a little better tonight, thinking about them, working towards applying them for the pages to come. So I can get a little closer to do the day when I finish a page and say, “AH-HA! Now that’s a professional kind of work!”
