New stuff on the ol’ DeviantArt today. Took me long enough, but I finally got around to doing some Akira fan-art.

Now I’m pretty sure most people have seen the movie at some point or time because they were sold on the point that it was a cartoon with blood and guts and cursing, but what it takes some time to realize is that the movie is kinda boring. The MANGA on the other hand, well, you really couldn’t find a better set of books out there (I mean, you can, there are some, but this manga is UP THERE). To say that the movie is simply the Cliff’s Notes of the book is an understatement, the movie might as well be a trailer, a very nice looking trailer, but it hardly does the book justice. Entire STORY ARCS aren’t covered, and a character who is arguably more important than most of the main characters gets sidelined into an apocalyptic rant that’s quickly passed over. I suppose I could go on for the rest of eternity about it, but I’ll save you the time. Go read Akira some time if you haven’t, its a fantastic sci-fi story with a really cool cast of characters and to top it off, lots of motorcycles. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG!
