Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance to the Radio!

I have discovered what my job is, listeners, and it is only that tag line you see there! Though ostensibly I am to be a man of the system, sorting through 50 pages of track information and probing it for the most minuet of errors, in truth, that is only my subjob. My greatest duties are donning a pair of headphones and listening to whatever tracks I’d like to hear from the 4+ terrabytes of music stored on the Sirius hard drive. It is really no a disappointing selection; no more disappointing is the equipment, which is a sound system to be envied (well, at least compared to other workstations. Honestly, who else provides their workers with their own font of never ending music?)! So, though I was supposed to be ironing out the kinks in this system, much of my time was spent dancing in my seat. This worked well, considering I was the only intern in the office today and my boss did not have work for me until near 10:30, though I’d arrived at 8:30. I can only hope this trend continues.

But I cannot listen to my favorite bands forever; in a single day alone I was able to listen to the entire discography of The Clash and The Misfits, with a bit of Public Enemy and Screeching Weasels thrown in their for balance. I could imagine that within two weeks I’ll have exhausted the entire library of songs I recognize. From there I will be doomed to pressing repeat ad nauseum. If you’d like to avoid consigning me to this fate, then I implore you, please give me any and all suggestions. The more obscure the band, the better, for I feel my tastes are all too narrow. As they say, “hit me with your best shot”; I cannot ask much more from you than this, my friends. I in turn will reciprocate the favor by giving you kids suggestions, and you will in your way be contributing to the creation of our comic: many are the number of storylines and characters that find themselves born from any random ditty.

Be a Man, not DEVO, and give me a shot in the arm! I promise, the favor shall be returned in ways you cannot yet imagine!

Also, an update on this weekend: D.C. is getting a snowstorm of mammoth proportions this Friday evening, reports suggest, and the Metro system may not be running come Saturday morning. This is unfortunate in the extreme, and I will not be pleased if my chance to meet with Blake Schwarzenbach in person is derailed by the natural elements. Gorgeous as it may be, I must tell the snow to “piss off” as kindly as can be done; I’ve little doubt that my Friday plans have been shot and I will need the weekend escape (and chance for complete disappearance) that the trip to New York provides. Pray for me, friends (and if anyone is actually in the area and planning to attend, please, don’t hesitate to comment on here; I might like a ride, you know!). Until such time as we meet again: God speed!

YOSF, I LOVE YOU! What are you doing away from my life and why won’t we be friends? CALL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! (Also, excellent suggestions!).

P.S.: I almost went to a RJD2 concert, but it was sold out.
P.P.S: Can’t help you on the Patti Smith end; she falls squarely under the list of Things I Will Not Listen To For Reasons I Won’t Explain.

I don’t think I’ll be able to top Yosef’s list but here are my suggestions:

    Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run”

    Enough said!

    Later!
